Yes the title is spelt correctly. For some reason they miss out the ‘u’ here! Labor day is a nationwide bank holiday which is meant to signify the end of summer and was traditionally the last day of the summer holidays for schools. Apparently nowadays most schools go back in late August instead, but I guess a day off is still nice to have.

Today we decided to take it a bit easier since we are ahead of schedule after the gruelling late-night drive last night. Taking it ‘easier’ basically involved getting up late and then going to the shops for the whole afternoon! We did some searching on Google and found a great looking premium outlet retail park in the west suburbs of Chicago (a town called Aurora). It was quite a long drive but this park had a Diesel shop so I could look for jeans, and advertised additional Labor day savings.

When we got there it turned out Labor day savings were a very, very good thing! There were designer shops which had 50% off everything in the whole store, as well as being around 25% cheaper already due to it being an outlet. As a result, we both bought lots of things! I finally managed to get some new jeans and trainers, and Lauren got a DKNY handbag, makeup and some clothes.

For dinner we went to a really nice Italian called The Olive Garden. Its a chain here in the USA, similar to nicer Italians such as ASK at home. For just $9 they gave us unlimited pasta, soup and breadsticks! We couldn’t believe it since the items separately would have added up to over $16. Now for an early night since tomorrow will be a busy day of site seeing in Chicago.
